Hydration and Your Health

By Dr. Sheree

lady-drinking-water-and-walkingI’m sure you’ve often heard me say, “Be sure to drink more water” after your corrections at the centre. Now, let’s explore why staying hydrated is vital for both your chiropractic care and overall health.

Why Hydration Matters for Chiropractic Care

Staying hydrated is essential for chiropractic corrections, as water helps keep spinal discs and joints lubricated, promoting better flexibility and mobility. It also supports overall muscle and nervous system function, aiding in recovery and optimising the benefits of your adjustments.

Why Hydration is Essential for Overall Health

Our bodies are composed of approximately 60% water, which plays a crucial role in numerous vital functions.

Here are some key reasons why proper hydration is so important:

  1. Maintains Bodily Functions – Water helps regulate digestion, absorption, circulation, nutrient transport, and temperature control, ensuring the body functions efficiently.
  2. Aids Detoxification – Proper hydration supports the kidneys in flushing out toxins and waste from the body, reducing the risk of kidney stones and promoting overall detoxification.
  3. Supports Skin and Joint Health – Staying hydrated keeps skin moisturised, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also lubricates joints and tissues, preventing pain and stiffness.
  4. Boosts Mental Clarity and Energy – Dehydration can impair concentration, memory, and alertness while also leading to fatigue. Drinking enough water enhances cognitive function and energy levels.
  5. Prevents Headaches – Dehydration is a common trigger for headaches and migraines. Staying hydrated can help reduce their frequency and severity.
  6. Enhances Physical Performance and Recovery – During exercise, especially at high intensity, water loss through sweat can lead to muscle cramps, tightness, fatigue, and heat exhaustion. Hydration supports muscle function and recovery.
  7. Promotes Circulation and Heart Health – Drinking enough water supports healthy circulation, cardiovascular function, weight management, and the efficient absorption of nutrients.

A Simple Step for Better Health

If you’re looking for an easy way to improve your health today, drink more water! It’s a simple yet powerful habit that supports your body’s overall function and well-being.

Keeping You Right Side Up and Full Steam Ahead with Dr. Greg

Adapt or Die – Part 1

man-joggingThis isn’t about artificial intelligence, though failing to adapt in your career could mean job loss. Instead, I’m discussing the adaptability that once led to the extinction of the most majestic creatures to ever roam our planet—dinosaurs!

If you don’t adapt your lifestyle to meet the ever-increasing demands of modern life, you’re effectively draining your life energy until failure occurs. This path leads not only away from good health but toward dysfunction, exhaustion, and eventually, disease. Alarmingly, 85% of people succumb to lifestyle diseases—self-induced health issues, also known as “ignore my health long enough until my body was riddled with health issues.”

Each day, we face a choice:

1️⃣ Do less and simply cope.
2️⃣ Ignore reality, hoping it won’t catch up to us.
3️⃣ Take control of our destiny.

Just coping or ignoring reality means settling for a life half-lived, which most of us don’t desire. Many people I’ve worked with seek more from life, not less. Ignoring reality only leads to becoming a victim of your own life story, with decisions that pave the way for poor health.

However, there is a proactive minority who take full control of their health, opting to become masters of their own destiny. They understand that if you do what everyone does, you get what everyone’s getting. To them, investing in health is akin to securing the ultimate insurance policy—not just waiting for disaster to strike. True health insurance means actively improving your well-being.

This proactive approach brings significant rewards—more energy, better focus, vitality, less sickness, and a longer, stronger life. With improved health, you can relish life’s journey and fully engage in pursuits that matter most to you.

Your actions today shape your future more profoundly than you might realise. The good news? Consistent investment in your health can result in a very positive transformation. We’ve designed a “Life by Design” blueprint for living an extraordinary life—the groundwork has been laid. It’s our gift to you. ?

Bring a loved one to one of our advanced workshops, and our team will show you the path to superior health.

Your Health Champion,

P.S. – Next month, I’ll reveal how to enhance your adaptability and boost your health. Stay tuned! ?
P.P.S. – I have found that when it comes to health, the biggest killer is procrastination! Although people have the best intentions to improve their health, many fail to take necessary action. Let’s change that!

Chocolate and Your Nervous System: More Than Just a Sweet Treat

By NT Chiropractic

chocolateChocolate has been enjoyed for centuries, often associated with indulgence, comfort, and even love. But beyond its delicious taste, chocolate—especially dark chocolate—has fascinating effects on the nervous system and overall well-being.

How Chocolate Impacts the Nervous System

Chocolate contains bioactive compounds, such as flavonoids, theobromine, and caffeine, which interact with the nervous system in positive ways:

  1. Supports Brain Function – Dark chocolate is rich in flavonoids, which have been shown to enhance cognitive function by increasing blood flow to the brain and improving memory and learning (Harvard Health).
  2. Enhances Mood and Reduces Stress – Chocolate stimulates the release of endorphins and serotonin, neurotransmitters that promote feelings of happiness and relaxation, making it a natural stress reliever.
  3. Boosts Nervous System Communication – Theobromine, a compound found in chocolate, acts as a mild stimulant that enhances neural activity and mental clarity without the jitteriness associated with caffeine.
  4. Protects Against Neurodegeneration – Antioxidants in cocoa help reduce oxidative stress and inflammation in the nervous system, potentially lowering the risk of age-related cognitive decline (Science Direct).

Chocolate and Chiropractic Care

Your nervous system plays a crucial role in your overall health and well-being. Chiropractic care focuses on optimising nervous system function by ensuring proper spinal alignment and reducing stress on the body. Interestingly, consuming antioxidant-rich foods like dark chocolate can complement chiropractic care by supporting neural health and reducing inflammation.

The Takeaway

Enjoying dark chocolate in moderation can be a delicious way to support your nervous system and overall health. Pairing a healthy lifestyle with chiropractic adjustments ensures that your body functions at its best. So, the next time you savour a piece of chocolate, know that you’re not just indulging—you’re nourishing your nervous system, too!
