Celebrating Ingrid: Our Wonderfully Talented Practice Member

Ingrid has created a stunning mural that truly makes our Centre feel like home. Her artistic vision has transformed our space, infusing it with warmth, colour, and a sense of belonging.

Ingrid has also expanded our team with Trevor the crocodile. Trevor brings a playful twist to our Centre. Jacqui is over the moon with her new friend, even though we are having a few ‘teething’ issues—quite literally! Trevor can get a little chompy from time to time, but his presence adds a whimsical Darwin touch that we all enjoy.

Beyond her art, Ingrid’s joyful spirit and genuine engagement with everyone she meets enrich our community. Her trust in us to care for her spine and nervous system is something we deeply value, and we eagerly anticipate her visits.

Ingrid, thank you for being a part of our lives and for creating a mural that makes our Centre feel like home. Your visits brighten our days and inspire those around you. You are not only a great artist but an even greater person!!

Here’s to celebrating Ingrid—a remarkable artist and an irreplaceable member of our practice! ?

October Reflections With Dr Anthony: From Road Trips to SOT Certification

This October, I’m reflecting on what a whirlwind my first Dry Season in Darwin has been! I’ve packed in road trips, live music, delicious food, and made some great connections along the way. It’s truly mind-boggling that more people don’t live in Darwin – it’s such an underrated gem of a place!

A New Professional Milestone

Back in mid-July, I took my Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT) exams in Melbourne, and I’m excited to share that I passed both the theory and practical parts with flying colours! I’m now officially an SOT certified Chiropractor and couldn’t be more thrilled.

After the exams, I also completed an advanced visceral module, which some of you may have noticed during your recent check-ups.

SOT is a technique I’m really passionate about because it’s gentle, comprehensive, and innovative. It complements other chiropractic methods, focusing on the functional relationship between the sacrum (the base of the spine), the pelvis, and the occiput (the base of the skull).

One of the sacrum’s key roles is pumping Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) from the base of the spine up to the brain and throughout the nervous system. The occiput also plays a part in this, helping to pump CSF, which is crucial for the health of the brain and spinal cord.

Supporting the Body’s Healing

When I apply SOT techniques after a physical assessment, it supports the body’s natural healing processes. This approach promotes balance and optimal function in the spine, pelvis, cranium, organs, nervous system, and muscles. It’s a truly holistic way to encourage integrated health and neurological integrity.

If you have any questions about SOT or want to hear more about it, let’s chat during your next visit. I’m always happy to discuss the details!

October Adventures With Dr Sheree: From Croatia to Mont Blanc

Travel-diariesThanks for following along on my travel journey! I’m delighted to share part two of my travel diaries.

As much as I had fallen in love with Portugal, it was time to cross to the other side of Europe. My next stop was Croatia. I had the most incredible time sailing around the Dalmatian coast for a week. The Croatians really knew how to take it easy and slow down in life and I hope I can bring some of their laid-back attitude with me to Australia.

After a beautiful week of island-hopping and jumping off too many cliffs and boats, it was time to move on. After a couple of relaxing days lakeside in Montenegro, I was ready to start getting prepared for my trek.

Luxe Trekking in France

I spent the next eight days trekking around Mont Blanc. The Trek was a 170 km loop that started and finished in Chamonix, France. However, as we went around the mountain, we crossed through Italy and Switzerland as well. Each day, we spent roughly four hours walking up a mountain and then another 3-4 hours going back down. The best part about this trek was that there would be little huts at the top of each mountain and bottom, which had fresh food and tap beer!

This was definitely the most luxurious trek I have completed. A four-course Italian meal in the middle of a mountain is definitely worth the sweat to get there, I say! The views were better in real life, and I was constantly blinking, thinking this can’t be real.

We were also blessed with all types of weather. It was sunny on the first couple of days, but then clouds, rain, and finally snow on our last day of trekking. Yes, I was definitely equipped for this weather on my European summer adventure.

Wrapping Up in London

The final spot on my journey was London, where I got to catch up with a couple of great university friends who had just moved across to work.

Overall, I had the most amazing adventure on this trek. I got to meet some really cool people from across the world and challenge myself while burning off seven weeks of holiday feasting before coming home.

I’m extremely grateful for being able to take an extended holiday, and I’m feeling very refreshed and have absolutely loved my first week back in the Centre!
